February 8, 2023I made the below point, although not nearly as eloquently, in our livestream this morning. I thought it was of particular interest that in her rebuttal last night, Sarah Huckabee Sanders mentioned a new generation of leaders – which I took as kind of a very stealth suggestion that Trump is too old to be the next GOP nominee.
Perhaps your mileage varies on that. But Bill Mitchell seems to agree, and has much more to add which I think is interesting. Check out this thread.
I hadn’t picked up on the fact that after Sarah talked about the new generation of leaders, that she THEN gave two examples of issues DeSantis has been most outspoken about.
And of course, as Bill said in his #4 point, there was this.
Thoughts? I mean, that’s not a ringing endorsement, y’all. How soon before Trump starts trashing her?

After watching her speech, I am convinced that if DeSantis gets the GOP nomination, she would be a Primo Choice for a running mate. She’s intelligent as hell, well spoken, and light years better than the present veep. If only. If only.
AND, before I go, let me say how grossed out and disgusted I am by Trump’s smear campaign against DeSantis. I voted for Trump but only because the other choice was Hillary you-know-who. I won’t make that mistake again. He is busy showing America how low he can go.
Since she would be only half way through her first time, I would lose respect. Besides this does not sound like something Sarah would do (at least to me).

That wasn’t the only other choice.
By “new generation” I didn’t take it as a specific age range, but a new kind of Republican. Out with the establishment, compromising rinos that cry about how they have to get along and “reach across the aisle”. The rebuttal was never supposed to be a campaign endorsement for anyone, so I don’t think it was weird to not mention Trump by name. She was just painting a very stark difference between the left and right. That was her job last night and she did it wonderfully.
Yes there were other people on the Presidential ballot, but I prefer to vote for someone who actually has a chance of getting elected. No way on Earth will I ever vote for HRC, so I held my nose and voted for Trump.
