Biden has a habit of exaggerating and embellishing his past to the point that it really could be considered outright lying. In fact, it often is outright lying. He says things that are patently false but which occasionally have a shred of truth tangentially connected. But today in hurricane-ravaged Florida, Biden thought he’d tell a personal story to try to connect with the people who have lost everything as their houses were completely destroyed. He chose a story about a small kitchen fire back in 2004.
Biden: “We didn’t lose our whole home, but lightning struck and we lost an awful lot of it.”

According to a 2004 AP report, it was "a small fire…contained to the kitchen" that "was under control in 20 minutes." pic.twitter.com/O1gqPHTehr
According to the Associated Press at the time, “Lightning struck the home of Sen. Joseph Biden, starting a small fire that was contained to the kitchen…’The fire was under control in 20 minutes.'”
Biden has embellished this story on more than one occasion, notably in November 2021 when he said he knows about the danger of fires, “having had a house burn down with my wife in it — she got out safely, God willing — that having a significant portion of it burn.”

Joe is whatever he needs to be in any moment.
It’s easy for him to lie
He’s a Democrat
He doesn’t ever know what’s going on
