Heartbreaking Update On ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ Wife’s Cancer Battle

I mentioned a while back that Beth Chapman, Dog the Bounty Hunter’s wife, was struggling with throat cancer.

She is speaking out about her struggle and prognosis in on an A&E special that will air later this month.

I don’t personally watch their show, so I don’t know much about her, but I HAVE lost loved ones to cancer, and fully understand how devastating this can be for a family.

Beth Chapman, costar of the reality series Dog the Bounty Hunter, was diagnosed with Stage 2 throat cancer this fall, and is about to open up about her health struggles in a two-hour special.

People reports that Beth will talk about her health struggles in Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives, which will air on A&E on November 27. The show will follow her from her diagnosis in September through surgery and starting the path to recovery.

The special shows Beth in the hospital as well as spending time with her family and loved ones. “As I start this battle, I don’t see a lot of optimism,” Beth says in a preview clip released by A&E.

“They gave me 50/50 chances.” She had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor the size of a plum from her neck in late September.

This is really sad. I truly believe in the healing power of hope and a positive outlook – but this seems grim.

Her husband, Duane “Dog” Chapman, also weighs in on grappling with his wife’s diagnosis. “[The doctors] said, ‘I’m sorry, Dog,’ and right then I knew,” he said. Dog also is shown in a clip asking Beth, “What’s going to happen if you leave us forever?”

After her diagnosis, Beth reportedly wrote a letter to her friends, promising to fight every single step of the way, and it’s clear she is still determined to beat cancer. “I want my children to be able to see what a fight their mother put up,” Beth says in the special. “Cancer picked on the wrong woman,” Dog adds.

“We are thankful to Beth, Dog and the Chapman family for their courage to share their personal journey with viewers during a very trying time in their lives,” Elaine Frontain Bryant, head of programming for A&E, said in a press release. “We hope that this special can provide inspiration to viewers.”

Lately, Beth has taken some steps back into the spotlight, appearing with Dog at a party for the series Hawaii Five-0. It was one of her first public appearances since her cancer surgery.
