On March 31, 2022, Biden blamed the historically high gas prices on Putin and announced that he would be releasing the equivalent of one million barrels of crude oil a day for a period of 6 months, to be sold in chunks, a move which he called “unprecedented.” On June 14th, the Department of Energy announced the 4th such emergency sale totaling 45 million barrels of crude oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). But Biden’s plan is draining our SPR at an “unprecedented” rate, with reserves falling to their lowest since 1986.
But even as our own country suffers from the gas crisis and our own President is running our country dry of our crude reserve oil, 5 million barrels of our oil found their way to Europe, India, and, worst of all, China. Terrifyingly, Press Secretary Jean-Pierre claimed not to know that our dwindling reserves were being sent to foreign nations.

I get it, it’s a nuanced issue. Crude oil is only part of the issue, with refining being another significant aspect. And while the crude oil industry has been attacked on all sides by Biden’s irresponsible and unsustainable green new deal policies (cancelling the Keystone XL Pipeline and pausing land leases and drilling permits to name just a few), the refining industry has been likewise attacked on all sides with bureaucratic red tape restricting infrastructure projects, unrealistic expectations to obtain capital and investments to upgrade refining infrastructure, and lack of incentives for companies to increase refining capabilities.
Activists and their political allies have been working multiple angles over the course of many years to hamper all aspects of the oil industry so that when our nation was in the most need, we were unprepared to depend on our own capabilities to support us. But while the reality is that the gas crisis is multifaceted, it’s simply a slap in the face of every struggling American to find out that our own nation’s dwindling reserve of oil is being sent to other nations, including arguably one of the greatest threats to our nation. Yet another example of Biden’s America-last priorities.
