Y’all, as you likely realize, our website has gone through a bit of a makeover. As I mentioned in an earlier post, that makeover isn’t yet complete. There are still bugs to work out. A comment section to add. A few things that remain broken that need to get fixed. It’s all gonna get done. We promise.
But can I just share with you a pointless, ridiculous email I got on Saturday afternoon in response to the site makeover? Because I want to offer you a bit of a PSA on how to NOT BE A WEIRDO.
A little more background. The new site began its Big Reveal in the overnight hours this past Friday. It wasn’t until yesterday that the loading of the new site was consistent for most people (myself included!). It’s a process, and it requires some patience, which I am admittedly short on. So I get it if you’re frustrated that things on the site aren’t yet perfect. I TOTALLY GET IT.
But some people, as it turns out, have even less patience than I do. And they apparently want to broadcast that impatience for reasons I cannot even begin to understand.
I’m sorry. WHAT?!?!
Listen – to each his own, right? Like – if you don’t like our “new format” and you want to take us “out of your daily rotation” then by all means, you’re entitled. But WHAT IS IT that compels you to share this with us? What exactly about this specific feedback do you think is important, helpful, or relevant to us?
It’d be different if Dave had said, “Hey – I’m used to your old site, and the new one seems to be missing X feature” or “Man – I really wish your new site had X capability.” Specific constructive feedback would have been different. It might’ve still been annoying, perhaps, but at least it would have been purposeful. Just saying “I don’t like this” is the dumbest thing ever.
Y’all know me. My patience level for dumb is even lower than my patience level for site wonkiness. So I responded to Dave.

Harsh? Perhaps. But with this level of dumb I just kinda feel like being super direct is necessary. I just cannot fathom being the kind of person who writes these kinds of pointless emails to websites.
Dave was hurt. And wanted me to know.

Ohhhh – I see. Dave’s a “long time fan.”
And this is what’s even more mysterious. Why would a “long time fan” – if in fact he WAS a long time fan – be driven to write such an email and take us “out of his rotation” simply because we updated the look of our website? Like – what kind of “long time fan” does that?
Anyway, we’ve lost Dave. And since he thought that was really important information worth sending an email for, I thought I’d better alert our entire readership that Dave no longer has us in his rotation.

Ignore this stupidity, it happens with every change online eye roll
“Long-time-fans” don’t usually “take you out of their rotation” if the new website has a few bugs in it. What was he a fan of? The old website apparently, obviously neither, you girls or your show. Good Riddance!
I haven’t been around in a while, but I thought the website change was refreshing. The only hiccups I really encountered was that I had to recreate my profile, and while doing that, I found that the post I was reading (this one) turned out to be pages and pages in (which didn’t seem to be the case when I was viewing as a non-user). I may start to come back around more. I always especially enjoy your posts, Mock. Glad to see things still chugging along, even if I don’t always agree with some of your writers. 🙂
