Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt: ‘Guns Don’t Kill People. People Kill People’

Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt spoke to the media and delivered some devastating updates. Twenty-six people were killed. Of those, 12-14 were children, including the pastor’s daughter. Just for some perspective, the massacre killed “about 4% of the town’s population.”

Horrifying.

Tackitt said everyone in the church was injured in some way.

“I think nearly everyone had some type of injury,” he told reporters.

The shooter had connections to the church. Apparently, his ex in-laws attended the church, but they weren’t there during the time of the massacre. An armed civilian confronted the shooter outside and chased him down.

Ugh. My heart. I can’t.

There’s one thing Sheriff Tackitt said that’s ticking liberals off. It’s quite simple. It’s a quote you’ve probably heard before: “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.”
