VA Church To Remove George Washington Memorial Because It Makes People Feel ‘Unsafe’

I have a message for Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia: Shame on you.

According to this, church leaders have decided to remove a memorial honoring George Washington (it  marks where he sat with his family) because…wait for it… it’s offensive! Why? Because he had slaves!

“The plaques in our sanctuary make some in our presence feel unsafe or unwelcome,” leaders stated.

Are you kidding me? A plaque that essentially says, “HEY! The first President of the United States was here!” makes people feel unsafe? What is he going to do? Rise from the grave and start enslaving people? Honestly people. Get a grip.

“Some visitors and guests who worship with us choose not to return because they receive an unintended message from the prominent presence of the plaques,” they continued. “Many in our congregation feel a strong need for the church to stand clearly on the side of ‘all are welcome- no exceptions.'”

Well, I guess offended members of the congregation should go ahead and move out of the country, since George Washington played a pretty significant  role in founding our nation, which they live in day in and day out.

Somehow, they survive and thrive on this TAINTED SOIL.

I’d also like to point out that many of the founders were morally opposed to slavery, but they knew if they tried to pull too much at once, people would’ve freaked out, and they would’ve never had the chance to start this “great experiment.” That doesn’t– for one second– invalidate the founding principles of our country. Those Judeo-Christian principles made this country great. Period. End of story.

I truly hope the offended members of Christ Church have luck finding another country to move to– a country with no historical plaques and a squeaky clean history.
