Kim Jong-un Sends A Weird Letter To Australian Leaders

I’m not going to lie. I know the situation with North Korea is serious, but those kooks have threatened nuclear war so many times, I’m becoming numb to the constant warnings. Just a few days ago, North Korea warned that nuclear war “may break out any moment.”

Maybe I just trust in our country’s military power THAT much, but at this moment, I’m not too worried. I sleep well at night. However, I know Lil Kimmy is a deranged lunatic, so anything’s possible.

The saga continues. According to this, Kim Jong-un sent an “unprecedented” letter to Australian leaders, and it’s weird as heck. It’s titled, “Open Letter to Parliaments of Different Countries.”

The letter criticized Mr Trump’s fiery warning in a speech to the UN in September that his nation could “totally destroy” North Korea and states that “if Trump thinks he would bring the DPRK, a nuclear power, to its knees through nuclear war threat, it will be a big miscalculation” as “the DPRK has emerged as a fully fledged nuclear power”.

 

The letter urges the parliaments of different countries – it has apparently been sent to other nations – that want peace to “discharge their due mission and duty in realizing the desire of mankind for international justice and peace with sharp vigilance against the heinous and reckless moves of the Trump administration”.

Wait wait wait. North Korea is begging other countries to “discharge their due mission” and condemn the “heinous and reckless moves” of Trump’s administration? Do they realize how ridiculous they sound? This is NORTH KOREA– the same North Korea that murders dissenters and threatens war on a near daily basis– saying that.

Unreal.

“This is the first letter that we can find that any Australian foreign minister has received from North Korea…it’s an open letter, this is not how they usually send messages around the world,” she said.

 

“I read this as showing that the collective strategy of allies and partners to impose maximum pressure and diplomatic and economic sanctions on North Korea is working; this is a very unusual step of issuing an open letter of this character.

So it’s a good sign? I’ll take it.

Needless to say, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull isn’t taking the letter seriously.

“It doesn’t actually say anything about Australia so much. It’s basically a rant about how bad Donald Trump is,” Turnbull told Melbourne radio 3AW, according to CBS News.

 

“It is consistent with their ranting and complaining about Donald Trump,” he said, adding that it was the North that was in violation of UN Security Council resolutions by threatening to fire nukes at Japan, South Korea and the US.

 

Turnbull said the letter was a reaction to ramped-up sanctions unanimously approved by the Security Council on Sept. 11 in response to Pyongyang’s sixth and strongest nuclear test blast.

 

“So the tighter the economic sanctions are applied, the greater prospects we have of resolving that situation without a conflict,” he added.

Here’s hoping this can be solved diplomatically. Of course, I have my doubts. But it’s pretty clear Rocket Man is feeling the pressure.
