September 27, 2017Is there a new world order or something? Because I can’t keep up with all the crazy going on right now.
According to this, there is a petition to ban a website that allows men to rate prostitutes (kinda like Yelp, only for sex workers.)
Why? Because rating prostitutes is degrading to women, and it objectifies them.
Just let that sink in for a second.
Prostitution? Totally not degrading or objectifying. But rating the services received by prostitutes? OMG HORRIFIC.

Escort Ireland advertises the services of women on its website and gives men the opportunity to rate the experience including star ratings for ‘physical appearance’ and ‘value for money’.
The petition’s creator, Theresa Harris, titled the petition, “Stop Escort Ireland’s platform for punters to rate and review sex with women they rent”, and she was hoping to get 10,000 signatures. At the time of this article’s writing, the petition already had 8000.
This petition calls for the Department of Justice to introduce legislation which would prohibit the sex trade/escort website ‘Escort Ireland’ from hosting and promoting the rating and reviewing of women advertised on it.
Purchasing sex already contradicts true sexual consent, and it is clear in some of these reviews, that the men are aware that the woman was not “into” the sex, or was “unwilling” or “unenthusiastic” not to mention “unresponsive”.
The fact these men see this as a bad service rather than unwanted sex is clear in their “reviews”. This is terrifying.
The comments on the petition demonstrate the outrage that people have over the rating website:

Each escort on the website has taken a personal decision on whether they wish to receive reviews.
We have a dedicated community team that monitors the Escort-Ireland.com community forums and reviews sections 24/7 and takes action if anything inappropriate is posted as per our very strict guidelines on review and user generated content.
Our opinion into whether this is “degrading” is irrelevant – we respect the free and independent choice of our advertisers.
They can choose to opt-out of reviews completely, or choose to allow only non-explicit reviews. We respect their own individual decisions.’
