Should we pity her? Mock her? Surely, she cannot be serious. Does she really not know that North Koreans are forbidden to leave the country without explicit permission from the state? What does she make of those powerful escape stories? They’re all made up? Does she really not know that Kim Jong-un murders his own family members and starves his own people? Does she really not know that the authoritarian regime controls every aspect of its people’s lives? Does she really not know that the regime throws dissenters into prison camps, where they’re as good as dead? Defectors are killed. Even their families are punished.
The border guards shoot to kill anyone who tries to leave. But that aside, you make perfect sense.
