I homeschool my children. I’ve tried three different public school districts in three very different parts of the country (thanks to military moves) and all three schools proved to me that my children should not be in public school. One time the elementary school had no water for almost an entire school day. Hundreds of kids were told to “hold it” for more than 6 hours or to use one of a couple of designated toilets full of human waste (because they weren’t allowed to flush), and there were obviously no drinking fountains available. Parents weren’t notified by any school officials and only found out about the situation from their children after school, and from a parent who happened to be in a meeting at the school when she was told she couldn’t use the restroom. After days of silence despite public outcry, the administration eventually said it was because they “didn’t want to disrupt learning.” Instead, they put the health and wellness of hundreds of children at risk because they were afraid that if they told parents about the water situation, some of the parents might come pick their kids up from school early rather than subjecting them to those kind of conditions for the entire school day.
It’s me. I’m the “some parents” they were afraid of. I’d have picked my kids up right then rather than forcing them to endure hours of “holding it” or using disgusting bathroom facilities so they could finish another alphabet coloring page or do another vocabulary word search.
The bottom line is, I don’t trust public schools. I don’t trust school and district administrations. I don’t trust school boards. I don’t trust them to put children above policies and politics. Of the 10 public school teachers who have taught my children, 6 of them have absolutely contributed to the problem. One teacher actually told my 7 year old “not to go home and tell his mom anything bad from school.” If I’m going to surrender my children to a teacher for more than 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, I have to be able to trust them. And so far, 4 out of 10 isn’t a great ratio. And of those 4 teachers who were great, 3 of them expressed to me some variation of how their hands are metaphorically tied by school and district administrations, policies, and politics. And you’ve seen what teachers unions across the country have done this year.
So I’m not even a little bit surprised to read about the group of current and former school staff in Virginia who are literally compiling lists of parents who disagree with their radical woke progressive ideology so they can employ “hackers” to “infiltrate” and shut down parent communications in order to “expose these people publicly.”
Yes, I’m serious. If you disagree with the radical woke progressive ideas of these teachers and staff, they will literally hack into your digital accounts and disrupt your life and communications in order to publicly shame you for disagreeing with them.
The Facebook group called “Anti-Racist Parents of Loudoun County” has 624 members, including school staff and local elected officials. Think you might report this ridiculous activity to local law enforcement? You’ll be sorely disappointed because the county’s prosecutor, who was barely elected thanks to $845,000 of George Soros cash donations, is actually a member of the Facebook group. You should probably take a look at all the other local prosecutor races to which George Soros made large donations.
One parent in the so-called “Anti-Racist” group, Jen Durham, started a discussion thread on the subject saying she is “losing any hope that remaining civil towards these people [meaning those who disagree with her radical woke progressive ideals] changes anything.” Durham then asked the group if anyone knew any “hackers” who could “shut down their websites,” “infiltrate,” “create fake online profiles,” and “gather information” about parents who disagree with her radical woke progressive ideology, specifically Critical Race Theory. She then started a list of parents who disagree.
In response to her call, members in the Facebook group began listing names of parents, often including home location, employment, spouse and family names, and other specific identifying information. How very Nazi Germany of them. Neighbors informing on and turning in neighbors.
Former teacher Hilary Hultman-Lee then embarked on a prolific execution of Durham’s list idea, saying,
“Regarding the anti-CRT movement, we’d like to compile a document of all known actors and supporters. Please comment below with legal names of these individuals, area of residence and or school board Rep known, known accounts on social media, and any other info that you feel is relevant.”
The parents who find themselves on the list don’t actually have to say or do anything racist. One parent found herself on the list just for being “very carefully neutral.” So you think you’re safe by being careful not to publicly disagree with the woke progressive radicals? Too bad for you that “silence is violence,” and your silence on the subject is tantamount to incriminating racist behavior. If you’re not vocally with them, you’re against them and will be subsequently put on a target list.
“Their opponents were apparently those who objected to, sought to debate, or were even simply ‘neutral’ about ‘critical race theory.’”
It was Loudoun County who first made waves about Dr. Seuss having “strong racial undertones” and being deemphasized in the school district.
According to a report by the Daily Wire, Loudoun’s school system curricula and policies have been flooded by radical woke progressive racial rhetoric, including paying half a million dollars to a single “racial consulting” company, and requiring all staff to participate in racial equity and injustice training.
So I ask you this. Do you trust that you know what’s going on in your child’s school? What’s being taught? What’s being emphasized? What’s being expected? While I absolutely think it is physically safe (in terms of Covid) for kids to return to in-person learning, I fear that safety from Covid isn’t the only thing we have to consider.
Are your kids safe from radical woke progressive ideological indoctrination in their public school classrooms?
Unfortunately, the answer is no.
