Reports Reveal Former Democratic Presidential Contender Andrew Yang Is Considering A Run for Mayor of New York City

The Daily Caller is reporting former Democratic presidential hopeful Andrew Yang is considering a run for the Mayor of New York City. I’m not Democrat, but even I would consider voting for Yang if I lived in NYC, especially in a primary when far worse options will likely be on the Democratic side. Praise the Lord, de Blasio is prevented from running again due to term limits. If only we had such a thing at the national level for Congress…

Yang is also reportedly talking with Tusk Strategies, the firm that worked with former Mayor Mike Bloomberg during his successful 2009 mayoral campaign, according to Politico. A person familiar with Yang’s plans told Politico he would join other Democrats in the 2021 primary.

I think Yang has a decent shot if he decides to go forward with a bid. His supporters are certainly very enthusiastic.

Frankly, anyone would be a vast improvement over Bill de Blasio. According to a poll (take THAT with a grain of salt), Yang seems to have a chance.

A survey of 1,000 Democratic voters, which was conducted from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 by Slingshot Strategies, found Yang to be the top pick with 20% of respondents, The New York Post reported. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams came in second with 14% and Comptroller Scott Stringer garnered 11%.

Yang is an intriguing candidate for NYC. He’s young-ish, liberal, but stilll seems to have a some common sense and reasonableness about him. For example, Yang has spoken out against cancel culture.

Now, don’t get me wrong, he is still a far left liberal with extreme positions, like universal basic income. But, like I said, ANYONE at this point is an improvement over de Blasio.
