Businesses Board Up To Prepare For Post-Election Storm Of Vandalism And Theft

As the country approaches Election Day, the preparation looks a lot different than in years past. So different, in fact, that some have marveled that it’s like something you read about in “third-world countries, not America.” Stores in major cities around the country are boarding up windows and securing merchandise to prepare for “civil unrest,” which is politically correct code for “rioting and looting.” Because, after a summer of “civil unrest,” it seems it has become perfectly acceptable to vandalize, steal, destroy, burn, and injure in order to express your displeasure. That’s apparently the new norm here in America. So, just in case the party of tolerance, love, and inclusion happens to lose, (or maybe even if they win and just want to ‘celebrate’), businesses are hedging their bets by preparing for a hurricane of vandalism, looting, and arson.

Tweet overload, I know. But I’ve been searching and there are hundreds of pictures and videos from around the country where businesses are sufficiently worried about theft and destruction of property by unhappy rioters and looters that they are completely boarding up their businesses. In fact, some learned from last time they were vandalized and are apparently buying different screws than they used the last time they boarded up, because people were coming in with screw guns and just taking down the plywood! Imagine that. Looters so prepared that they have the forethought to bring a screw gun with them for easier looting.

Matt Hinton, a partner in the security consultant firm Control Risks said,

“If Trump wins, our risk analysts, who look at this every single day, are expecting widespread mass anti-government demonstrations in every major city.”

And again, it isn’t “demonstrations” they’re worried about, because “demonstrations” don’t cause billions of dollars of property damage. Rioters and looters do. Because, you know, the party of tolerance, inclusion, and love.

The famous Rodeo Drive will be entirely off limits to vehicles and pedestrians to prevent looting and destruction of high-end luxury retailers. Banks, pharmacies, and a multitude of other businesses can be seen installing plywood in all their windows.

The New York Times published an interesting piece called, “Boarded-Up Windows and Increased Security: Retailers Brace for the Election.” It was truly one of the most interesting reads on this subject because of the hilarity of the things they very carefully DID NOT say. For example,

“In Beverly Hills, the police said they would take a “proactive approach” and close Rodeo Drive, a renowned strip of luxury retailers, on Tuesday and Wednesday, citing the likelihood of increased “protest activity.”

Honey, “protest activity” isn’t dangerous enough to force a city to block off an entire street of luxury stores. Protests are peaceful. Once it’s dangerous and destructive, it isn’t a protest anymore. So it isn’t “protest activity” you’re worried about, you’re just too scared to say looting, rioting, arson, mob violence, etc. I know I’m getting salty, but how are they serious with this?

How about this one:

“She acknowledged that there could be added danger for [retail] workers on Tuesday night because the police are likely to be stretched thin if there are protests.”

Again, it isn’t “protests” that will be stretching the police thin. You’re just too politically correct to dare say looting, rioting, destruction, arson, or mob violence. As the mainstream media taught us this summer, even if there is a building burning in the background, you still have to call it a mostly-peaceful protest because anything else is misinformation or blowing things out of proportion.

In fact, George Washington University sent an email to students encouraging them to prepare for the election like they would prepare for a hurricane, including food supplies for several days. Because apparently they are anticipating conditions being so dangerous that students won’t even be able to go to the store.

So, if you own a business, you might be preparing for people to be upset about the election results who then decide to steal clothes, electronics, maybe a washing machine, or torch a building.

Because, you see, that’s how you explain to people that you are displeased with the election results.
