Nick Cannon Dropped By Viacom For His Ridiculously Racist Rant. Did Y’all See This?

Our pal Zuby was all over this story when it broke yesterday.  It started with this clip going viral of Nick Cannon being a racist piece of garbage:

I mean, DAYUM.

Honestly, I didn’t expect Nick to face anything terribly consequential for this, because there’s such an enormous double standard about racism in this country. You hear that only white people can be racist ALL THE TIME. So it was a bit of a surprise to see that ViacomCBS has decided to end their relationship with Cannon.

Full confession – the only thing I remember Nick Cannon for is being married at one time to Mariah Carey, so given that he chose to marry someone I find to be pretty batsh*t, I figured he was pretty batsh*t before ever watching this video of him. I had no idea that he was a TV host and producer and podcaster. ViacomCBS said, “ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism. We have spoken with Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him. We are committed to doing better in our response to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry. ViacomCBS will have further announcements on our efforts to combat hate of all kinds.”

Cannon responded to the hullabaloo on his FB page, saying, “I do not condone hate speech nor the spread of hateful rhetoric. … The Black and Jewish communities have both faced enormous hatred, oppression persecution and prejudice for thousands of years and in many ways have and will continue to work together to overcome these obstacles…In today’s conversation about anti-racism and social justice, I think we all — including myself — must continue educating one another and embrace uncomfortable conversations — it’s the only way we ALL get better…Until then, I hold myself accountable for this moment and take full responsibility because My intentions are only to show that as a beautiful human species we have way more commonalities than differences, So let’s embrace those as well as each other. We All Family!🙏🏾.”

He pretty much said the opposite of all those things in his podcast episode, but ok. From the source:

In Cannon’s hour-plus podcast, he and Griffith contend that Black people are the true Hebrews and that Jews have usurped their identity.

Cannon then segues into a discussion of skin color – “And I’m going to say this carefully,” he begins – to allege that people who lack sufficient melanin are “a little less.”

Those without dark skin have a “deficiency” that historically forced them to act out of fear and commit acts of violence to survive, he said.

“They had to be savages,” Cannon said, adding that he was referring to “Jewish people, white people, Europeans,” among others.

My criticism of Nick Cannon has drawn a lot of weirdos to my page, who think what he said was right.

To be 100% clear, I oppose racism in ALL directions.

Anti-black, anti-white, anti-brown, anti-jewish…

2/ They fear extermination because of their inherent inferiority
3/ They are incapable of compassion because of lack of melanin
