23 Members Of The Iranian Parliament Have Coronavirus

The Coronavirus started in the Wuhan Province in China, but it wasn’t contained.

Instead, the virus has spread to almost 80 countries. Among the countries that were hit, the hardest is Iran.

According to health officials, Iran has close to 2,922 cases of the virus and has the deadliest outbreak outside of China. Iran has reported that out of the almost 3,000 cases, 92 of those have died.

With all intelligence that comes out of Iran, we shouldn’t hold these numbers as fact. The internet in Iran is not stable. The government in Iran uses the internet as a tool to keep its people under control.

Iran has been blocking their people from reporting the news of outbreaks and the actual death tolls. The numbers are likely higher than those being reported.

Out of the 92 deaths reported by Iran, 23 of those deaths were of government officials.

On Monday, 71-year-old Mohammad Mirmohammad, a member of the Expediency Council, which advises Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, died as a result of Covid-19 in Tehran.

The Iranian government has directed its members to not interact with the public in any capacity. The government hopes this will stop the spread of the virus.

“In China and Iran, both experiencing major outbreaks, early action has been undermined by efforts to halt and control free flow of information,” which has limited the public’s understanding and willingness to “share vital information with officials,” Matthew Kavanagh, an assistant professor of global health at Georgetown University, told Business Insider last week.

The Trump administration has a travel ban in place after a woman that had recently traveled to Iran tested positive for the virus.

According to the BBC, Iran has let approximately 54,000 prisoners out of jail. The release is an effort to stop the spread of the virus and is only including prisoners that tested negative for coronavirus.

There are worries that the prisoner release is an act of terrorism after reports say that some released were not tested for the virus.
