Clever And Competent Reader Has Some Stuff To Say About Gavin Newsom’s Ridiculous House Prescription Plan

Prescriptions for houses; stupidity alive and well

California governor Gavin Newsom recently said in a speech that doctors should be able to write prescriptions for houses like they do for insulin. What a perfectly logical answer for the homelessness crisis, right? He didn’t say if the prescription provides a free house or if there’s a co-pay, but either way, it sounds like a great deal. 

Truth is, it’s hard to believe those words came out of his mouth. They rate way up at the top of the dumbass statement list with, “I am not a crook,” and “I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky.”

It is one of the most idiotic things I’ve ever heard a politician say, and that’s saying a lot! I’ve heard my share of stupidity in my 60+ years. 

So, Gavin, just a few questions come to mind. How are you going to pay for all these houses? Where are you going to build them? How are you going to buy the land? Will you pull a Bernie and take land away from the owners and spread the deeds around? Are you going to give these “prescription” homes to people with no jobs? If so, do they have to pay taxes? And if they do, where will they get the money? How will they pay for insurance? Are you going to buy furniture for them? Pay the electric bills? The water bills? Oh, and do they get cable? I could go on for days.

Gavin, I don’t think you thought this one through before you opened your mouth. That’s a disease that seems to be going around. Of course, you weren’t serious, but you are a governor and I just don’t expect governors to make such half-witted remarks.

But just in case you decide to make this a reality (even though it would only be possible in a universe far, far away), I’m in. I’ll take 2,500 square feet (no larger as it would take too long to clean), three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living areas, oh, and a huge kitchen, please. And a couple of fireplaces.

What, Gavin? You say you can’t do that? Only homeless people get house prescriptions? Not the ones who have worked their asses off throughout their adult lives? Oh, I see.

Punish the people who have worked to reach their goals? I wish someone had warned us earlier in life. There were many times I wanted to quit my job, but guess what, I would have lost my house! Did you consider that there are millions of folks who WORKED AND SAVED for the American dream?

And what about the homeless folks that do not want a house? There are people out there that, for whatever reason, prefer to live that way. Will you force them to take hold of those prescriptions and run to a realtor to get them filled? 

I think it’s time to face the cold, hard facts, Gavin. People are running out of California as fast as they can. It might be a good idea to shut the hell up and work on a REAL plan to help the homeless folks that want help.

I freely admit that I don’t have the answer, but it sure AF is not house prescriptions.
