An ENTIRE Florida Police Department Required To Do Transgender Sensitivity Training Because Of One Officer’s Mistake

Is it just me, or has all this transgender-grievance crap gotten completely out of hand?

According to this, a Fort Lauderdale police officer pulled over a transgender person named Shelby Kendall. Kendall is a biological male who identifies as a woman. Officer James Brinton pulled Kendall over for drag racing. According to Kendall’s complaint, Brinton asked Kendall why his license read “female.” Kendall responded that he identified as a female, prompting Brinton to say “Well, for the purposes of this citation, you’re a male.”

Kendell, 48, filed a complaint with the city for Brinton misgendering him, subjecting Brinton to a hearing before the city’s Citizens Police Review Board.

“If I’ve done everything I need to do for the state of Florida to recognize me as a female, he doesn’t have a right to purposely misgender me,” Kendall said. “It was inappropriate and kind of bullying and sends a message to the transgender community.”

To paraphrase a famous quote: Who are you going to believe? A driver’s license and my FEEEEEEELINGS, or your lying eyes?

Now, maybe you could make the argument that the police officer should apologize. Maybe. Jury’s still out on that.

But because of this one incident, the ENTIRE Fort Lauderdale Police Department is now going to have to undergo sensitivity training so this can be avoided in the future.

The Citizens Police Review Board recommended that the entire Fort Lauderdale Police Department take extra training on how to properly treat transgender people, in addition to Brinton receiving a written reprimand for Kendall’s treatment.

“I think it’s fair,” board member Marc Dickerson told the Sun-Sentinel. “It’s a matter of training and the officers need training.”

According to the Sun-Sentinel, this training entails watching a 13-minute video from the U.S. Department of Justice on how to deal with transgender individuals, and signing a document stating that they watched the video.

Maybe it’s just me, but I tend to think that police officers have better things to do with their time than learn how to tippy-toe around the delicate feelings of the Eternal Victim Class. Especially when they account for less than a percent of the whole population.

But that’s hardly the point with this victimhood activism. It’s not really about trying to be sensitive to someone else’s feelings or being nice or respectful. It’s about controlling what people think, say, and do. Even if you see a person that looks like a man and sounds like a man and walks like a man, if that person says they are female, then you have to agree.

Frankly, I’m getting tired of being told that my eyes are lying to me.
