I found this post from Tallulah Willis (daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore) really interesting in light of the whole body positivity movement.
Behold:
Good for her. I mean, yes – her post is super hippy dippy, but you know what’s great about it? She is doing the kind of body positivity where she owns her struggle, shares it with others in order to inspire people to seek help if they need it, and still puts out a message of self-love – all in one post.
That’s a big difference from the kind of body positivity posts that we see in far greater numbers – you know the ones I’m talking about.
Did you get a load of those hashtags? Do you see the difference I’m talking about now? Extremes in either direction are negative, but in Tallulah’s post, she’s not hashtagging #respectmybones or #anorexicfierce or #honormybones or #boldandbony or #bonyandproud or #bonyrevolution. She’s recognizing that she is an unhealthy weight, and she’s not encouraging people to follow her example or to be proud of being underweight – she’s encouraging them to SEEK HELP to address the problem. Just like she is.
That’s way more body positive, if you ask me.
