President Trump To Hold A Rally The Same Night As The White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Nerd prom The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is right around the corner. Next Saturday, to be exact. President Trump has already made it clear that he won’t be attending. It’s an unprecedented move. The President of the United States always attends. Ronald Reagan was the last president to skip it (in 1981), and that’s only because he was recovering from an assassination attempt.

Trump doesn’t have the best relationship with the press, so it would probably be phony and awkward anyway. What? Do we really need the president to attend a dinner and pretend to be BFFs with MSM? Besides, the media personalities have been so used to being showered with praise over the last eight years, they probably wouldn’t be able to handle Trump’s presence anyway. Obama dazzled them. But Trump? Not so much. There’d be convulsions. And nitpicking. And snarky articles. Trump probably figured it’s not worth it. He’d rather hang out and connect with the people who put him on office, which is exactly what he’ll be doing.

Oh dang. The same night as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. That’s no coincidence. That’s a calculated move on Trump’s part. That’s his way of snubbing the media. It’s basically the ultimate “screw you guys.” I know a lot of people say Trump should go to the dinner because it’s tradition. They say this shows his “thin skin.” I wholeheartedly disagree. This is vintage Trump. He’s not skipping out because he’s afraid MSM will tear him up. They’ll do that regardless. This is him challenging the “way things work” in Washington. He’s not afraid to shake things up. That’s all there is to it.
