Reports are just coming in of some sort of incident near Capitol Hill. According to early reports, a suspect crashed into a police cruiser and tried to hit police officers on foot. I’m also seeing reports of shots fired.
U.S. Capitol Police responded to the area at Washington Ave and Independence Ave, which is located near the U.S. Botanic Garden and the Rayburn House office building.

It doesn’t appear anyone was hit by the vehicle, but it’s too early to say for sure. The suspect is now in custody.
Is this a traffic stop gone wrong or something far more nefarious? We’ll update you as soon as we know more.
