Aaaaaand… the VA continues to suck.
According to this, this whole thing started when veterans from West Palm Beach, Florida noticed that the Veterans Affairs hospital there did not have portraits of President Trump or VA Secretary David Shulkin. It’s customary for VA hospitals to have portraits of the people currently in charge up in a public area and it’s odd that this hospital didn’t have any.
So, Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) got involved (himself a veteran and a patient of the hospital) and actually brought portraits to be hung up in the hospital. A hospital staffer even helped him and the other veterans with him do it. But then the hospital administration got involved and – yeah… it turned nasty –
“Local officials there told [Mast], ‘He’s not our president. We’re not hanging the photo.’ So he brought a portrait and put it up on the wall,” Henry told viewers. “But then after the congressman left, they pulled the photos back down.”
Fox News’s Ed Henry was on Fox and Friends to talk more about it –

Yes, it’s kind of stupid to be focusing on whose portraits are hanging up in a hospital when there are so many other problems plaguing the VA. But SERIOUSLY, guys? Why are you freaking out about it, anyway? A congressman who is also a veteran saw a problem that he thought he could help you out with and he did you a solid by bringing those portraits in. Are you all so beholden to your bureaucratic BS that you can’t even accept his help?
(Who am I kidding? It’s the federal government. Bureaucratic BS is their ENTIRE reason for being.)
Or maybe it’s just a political game you all want to play. After all, Rep. Mast did say that the hospital officials don’t believe that Donald Trump is “their” president. So… what? The Cult of Social Justice is running the VA now?
Regardless, this whole thing is stupid and creates a controversy that the VA didn’t need, but apparently they’re good with looking like a bunch of partisan hacks who don’t give a crap about our veterans. Because THAT’S what our veterans deserve. Totally.
Ugh… I’m so sick of the VA being a colossal disappointment.
