CNN Uses Screenshot From ‘Fallout 4’ To Illustrate Russian Hacking

I suppose a fake news outlet would resort to using images from a fictional video game about the nuclear apocalypse to whine about fake Russian hacking. But did they have to make it so obvious?

According to this, during a report on how EEEEEEEEVIL Russian hackers are and how they directly hacked into voting machine to steal the election for Trump (or whatever it is they’re peddling now as fact), CNN used an image that would be rather familiar to fans of the popular game Fallout 4 –

Here’s an example of what a screen in Fallout actually looks like – it’s part of a minigame where you hack into abandoned terminals to get information and codes to access certain areas of the wasteland. Really, it’s less “hacking” and more of a word game where you guess which random word is the password and choosing the right one based on how similar it is your previously failed guesses –

Maybe that’s what the phishing email John Podesta fell for looked like.

This probably doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, but as I was watching that report and hearing how SUPER SERIOUS the reporter was, and then suddenly I see a screen shot of something out of a freaking video game – I busted up LAUGHING. It’s like, you can’t find stock footage of a scary-shadowy-dude typing on a computer to illustrate hackers? You have to roll footage of a video game to get your point across?

Good grief, they told me you were intelligent…

It’s still early, but it looks like 2017 is shaping up to be just as crazy as 2016 was. At least it’ll be funny along the way.
