GoFundMe started off with the right idea. It’s a great way to raise money for people who are truly in need. But the abuse. I can’t take the abuse. I’ve seen GoFundMe campaigns for honeymoons, saving relationships, ex-lesbians wanting “straight makeovers,” and requests for donations to pay off college debt.
Yeah. Not exactly what GoFundMe was originally intended for.
Add this one to the list.
An individual named Meeka Late loves her some Prince. As you’ve probably heard (unless you just landed here from Mars), he has passed away. Now, you know he has a ton of hardcore superfans out there, and Late happens to be one of those individuals. She desperately wants to attend his funeral, but she doesn’t have the means of doing it herself. That’s where you come in. She writes:
“Y’all know I love me some Prince… I just need y’all to help get me to his funeral. Lord I broke down in Sam’s Club… y’all I was on the floor SangN “Purple Rain”… This man was supposed to sAng “Darling Nikki ” at my wedding….. Lord help me make it through this! Any donation will help.”
For real.
And here’s the thing. People are actually donating. She’s already raised over $1,270!
People are donating to this. They’re actually giving their hard-earned money to this woman.
We are so doomed.
