Presidential candidate Donald Trump addressed a crowd at FreedomFest in Las Vegas Saturday and of course, illegal immigration was part of the discussion.
Things got interesting when Trump took questions from the audience. (And they weren’t prescreened and didn't have their electronic devices taken away or anything!)
Anyway, one Latino questioner told Trump that he was “incredibly insulted” over his remarks on illegal immigration, and Trump was literally all, “I was waiting for this.”
Then Trump turned it up to 11 and asked, “Did the government of Mexico ask you to come up and say this?”
Classic Trump. (I’m pretty sure he isn’t very popular in Mexico. I wonder if the New York Times will turn that into a bombshell hit piece?)
The offended Latino then asked Trump if he’d put a wall around every state to keep out illegal immigrants. (Can you say, “Dumbest question of all time?”)
“I would build a wall between our border and Mexico’s,” Trump responded.
“I encourage legal citizenship. I encourage Hispanics and I encourage people from all over,” he added. “But what I don’t encourage is people coming into our country illegally. These people wreak havoc.”
“Senor Trump, you’re fired,” the Latino retorted.
In the speech, Trump simplified his stance on illegal immigration, and it’s so common sense and so on point that I can’t figure out why liberals are so offended by it.
“I encourage legal immigration,” Trump said. “To make this country great and strong again we have to stop illegals from coming in. They have to come in legally.”
Wow! What a concept!
