According to this and a new study put out by the American Academy Of Pediatrics, just an hour a day of television could be making our kindergartners (and first graders) fat.
The study published by the American Academy of Pediatrics analyzed data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Survey and found that children at this age who watched 60 minutes or more of TV a day were more likely to be overweight or obese when compared to children who watched less.
More specifically, children in kindergarten and the first grade who watched even just an hour of TV a day were 5o to 60 percent more likely to be overweight and 58 to 73 percent more likely to be obese. Computer use, the study authors said, was not associated with being overweight though.
Up until this study, two hours a day of TV time was the recommendation, but now that recommendation is being reconsidered.
Because studies.
The whole obesity-in-children thing has become a hot issue, especially since Michelle Obama became FLOTUS and has decided that all of our kids are fat and should be her pet project while she's not eating fries and spending our money.
On a side note, I have no idea how school-age kids can become obese with this on their plates during the day:

Or this:

Or this:

But, then again, I went to school back in the day when we had recess and gym and learned Actual Subjects during the day, instead of things like gender pronouns and whatnot.
So, I suppose FLOTUS and the American Academy of Pediatrics and everyone else besides parents probably know what's best for our kids.
Mmmmkay.
