Last Friday, on our radio show, we discussed matters of great importance as usual, not the least of which was the infamous Gum Wall in Seattle.
If you haven’t heard about the Gum Wall, it’s basically an accidental landmark, spontaneously created in the early 90s by comedy club-goers who began sticking their well-chewed gum on a cement wall while waiting to get in to the show. Word traveled, social media happened, and soon enough, over a million pieces of brightly colored gum were added to the wall by people from all over the place. The wall became a backdrop for wedding photos, baby announcements, etc.
It’s completely gross, obviously, and one of the world’s germiest landmarks.
Producer Will asked us about the gum wall on the show, and as you’ll hear, Daisy and I had very different opinions about it.
So anyway, curious to know if you’re Team Daisy or Team Mock on this one. Not that it matters much, since according to this, cleaning went forward as planned, and now the Gum Wall is gone.
So what do you think? Cool landmark? Or disgusting eyesore?
