Whatever you think about Mitt Romney, he's dead-ON correct in this audio clip. When explaining why he lost the election, he brings up the fact that you simply cannot compete with a guy who's promising everyone free crap. As conservatives, we know this. Because, well, people with brains in their heads know this. But liberals? They prefer to buy into the gimmick of the free handout.
Hook, line, and sinker.
And Romney states it simply:
Of course, those of us rational folks also know that the well will eventually run dry. It always does, no matter how much liberals want to ignore that fact and call us mean and old and white and stodgy and racist and homophobic and whatever else deflects from reality. We also happen to know that nothing – NOTHING – in this world is "free." It's a leftist fairy tale that they so desperately want to peddle as being real, because liberals LOOOOOVE a good fairy tale. This is why they love celebrities. And it's precisely why the fairy tale worked on half the people in this country who simply refuse to live in the real freakin world.
Romney went on to talk about a conversation he had with Bill Clinton, who said that he thought Romney had the election in the bag up until Hurricane Sandy, where Obama showed bipartisanship (GAWD). He allegedly also said that Clinton was tempted to "join the Republican party" when he heard Ann Romney's speech at the Republican convention. Yeah. This is the same guy who got up on a stage at the Democratic National Convention and told the country to VOTE FOR Barack Obama again. This is the same guy who's never had an issue lying to the American people before, so why start worrying about doing it now? In other words, what ol' Billy Boy says holds about as much water as what Obama says on a daily basis, as they're both pathological liars.
But I digress.
Back to why Romney lost. Beyond how much the right sucks at our own messaging tactics, there were two specific reasons – in Romney's mind, at least – why he lost. One was Obama granting amnesty to illegals through the Dream Act. And the other was that whole notion of "free" healthcare.
Ah yes. Free healthcare. Which reminds me….get ready for the big fat bill for that "free" healthcare, everyone. Because it sure is going to be the most expensive free crap the middle class has ever seen, and it's coming to a life near you!
