Earlier today, we heard rumors that the NFL was considering implementing a 15-yard penalty for players who kneel during the national anthem.
Per sources, one anthem idea being discussed: Leaving it up to home team on whether teams come out for the anthem; if teams do come out for the anthem, potential that teams could be assessed 15-yard penalties for kneeling.

Well, the NFL has arrived to a decision, and I think it’s a pretty sound compromise. Players will have the choice to stay in the locker room during the national anthem, but if they choose to go out on the field, they “shall stand and show respect respect for the flag and Anthem.”
BAM BAM BAM. If you want to disrespect our country and those who serve it, keep it off the field.
In addition, the NFL “will impose appropriate discipline on league personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.”
I don’t know what that discipline will look like, but hopefully, it will never come to that.

What do you think of this compromise? I’m fine with it! The NFL player’s union is not.

We have a lot of whiners on our hands.
One thing I hope to see in the history books: how Kaepernick uncovered how blatantly racist the @NFL is and how much they care about corporate dollars and rich privileged people. #TakeAKnee #BLM #ImWithKap https://t.co/cqlN6958h1

The new NFL policy is not a compromise. The players wanted to assert their right to peaceful protest. The league didn’t. The league has made it against the rules to do so. And no, staying in the locker room isn’t the same thing.

I’m disgusted by the message that’s being sent from the halls of the Justice Department to the playing fields of the NFL. We need to stand up to bullies, now cower before them

Will the @NFL still effectively ban Colin Kaepernick & Eric Reid from the league now that they have banned taking a knee?
Or will they allow these men to earn a living back in the league now that they’ve banned their chosen form of protest?
A grave injustice either way. pic.twitter.com/lrlbJrFOkY

I’m done with the NFL. https://t.co/MqCBsEsUWj

The NFL penalizing players for kneeling during the National Anthem simply un-American.
Jackie Robinson became the first black MLB player because he stood up for what’s right. Now the NFL is penalizing players for kneeling for what’s right!
UN-AMERICAN!

If you want to be a disrespectful jackwagon, keep it in the locker room. No problems here.
