ABC News originally reported that candidate Trump “directed Flynn to contact Russian officials on topics that included working jointly against ISIS.”
I suppose I could see how it would look a little seedy if Trump did that PRIOR to winning the election, but at the time, I wrote, “…did Trump allegedly ask him to contact the Russians when he was already President-Elect? Because yeah. That’s really not that weird.”
Well, well, well. What do you know? ABC News has issued a correction. It was President-elect Trump who asked him to do that. He already won the election. In other words, there’s no “collusion” here.
Get a load of this “clarification.”
Clarification: During a live Special Report, ABC News reported that a confidant of Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn was prepared to testify that then-candidate Donald Trump instructed Flynn to contact Russian officials during the campaign. That source later clarified that during the campaign, Trump assigned Flynn and a small circle of other senior advisers to find ways to repair relations with Russia and other hot spots. It was shortly after the election, that President-elect Trump directed Flynn to contact Russian officials on topics that included working jointly against ISIS.
President-elect Trump made that request, which basically makes this yet another nothingburger. It’s not unusual for an incoming president to make those requests. I’m convinced ABC wanted to mislead people. And whaddya know. They did. Mission accomplished.
This is why we call them #FakeNews. They continue to own that title.
