Lena Dunham Admits To Performing At Harvey Weinstein’s Benefit For Hillary Clinton, Even Though She Knew He Was A Perv

The elites are reluctant to condemn Harvey Weinstein. They’re slowly coming out, but it’s evident this isn’t easy for them. Some say they didn’t know Weinstein was a giant perv. Others are simply staying silent (*coughHillaryClintoncoughcough*), and some are admitting that they knew all along and ignored it.

Cue Lena Dunham.

In an op-ed for the New York Times, Dunham admitted that she KNEW Weinstein had a history of disrespecting women, but she decided to perform at his event anyway, because MORALS? Pffft.

Her piece is quite laughable, really. She spends the first part whining about the sexist encounters she had with men in Hollywood during the beginning of her career. Of course, we all know Hollywood is filled with inappropriate jerks, but Lena has no room to complain about any of this. She constantly objectifies herself. She doesn’t act like a lady and never has. So please. Spare me the moral outrage.

Also interesting is Lena’s ability to essentially blame ALL men for Weinstein’s behavior. Instead of just getting mad at Weinstein and his fellow pervs, she’s making this about the men in her industry. Sure. She stayed silent, but this isn’t about her! Why did THEY stay silent?!

The use of power to possess and silence women is as likely to occur in a fast-food restaurant as it is on a movie set, and Hollywood has yet another chance to make a noisy statement about what we should and should not condone as a society. A liberal-leaning industry, we have been quick to condemn Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes and, yes, the president. We do not accept sexual abuse as “locker room talk.” So why the deafening silence, particularly from the industry’s men, when one of our own is outed as having a nasty taste for humiliating and traumatizing women?

She later explains why she’s targeting men specifically. It’s a bunch of emotionally-charged BS.

 The reason I am zeroing in on the men is that they have the least to lose and the most power to shift the narrative, and are probably not dealing with the same level of collective and personal trauma around these allegations.

So she’s focusing on men because they’re privileged and definitely don’t deal with any kind of personal trauma when it comes to those types of allegations, k? Just ask the Republican dude she falsely accused of rape. He didn’t experience trauma. Like AT ALL.

Moving on. After berating men specifically, Lena admits that she performed at Weinstein’s benefit even though she knew what he was.

In the fall of 2016, I performed at a benefit for Hillary Clinton organized by the Weinstein Company. I had heard the rumors. I felt that going onstage under his aegis was a betrayal of my own values. But I wanted so desperately to support my candidate that I made a calculation. We’ve all made calculations, and saying we’re sorry about those calculations is not an act of cowardice. It’s an essential change of position that could shift the way we do business and the way women regard their own position in the workplace. I’m sorry I shook the hand of someone I knew was not a friend to women in my industry.

You hear that? She felt like it was a betrayal of her own values, but she decided Hillary was worth betraying personal values for. She’s a true #ChampionOfWomen. And we all KNOW Hillary knew what a perv Weinstein was, but of course that didn’t bother her. After all, she’s married to a rapist.

There’s more, but I’m stopping here. Basically, Lena is blaming the patriarchy and somehow, excusing herself even though she acted just as bad as Hollywood’s “silent” men.
