I feel largely disconnected from my fellow college students most of the time, but this is honestly getting ridiculous.
I don’t say that because I want to “fit in” necessarily… It’s just more of an observation. Every interaction I have with my student peers only reinforces my belief that my mother gave me more than a leg up by homeschooling me; utilizing my education to ground me in both my religious faith and my ability to think critically.
I thank God for that experience every day. Reading about the disconnect between my peers and their morals also reminds me just how lucky I am…
From The College Fix:
Students report that difficult course materials and exams, required attendance and deadlines are all impediments to their college success, according to a nationwide student survey recently conducted by Inside Higher Ed.
Students also reported professors do too little to provide the customized learning experiences they need to succeed.
“One in two students says it’s been hard to succeed in a class since starting college due to overly difficult materials or exams,” read one of several Inside Higher Ed articles discussing the results.
Regarding teaching style, the article stated, “more than half of students say they’re negatively impacted by teaching styles that don’t match how they learn.”
Other obstacles listed as “Impediments to Success” included school-life balance, unclear expectations, and mental health struggles.
Additionally, 20 percent of students reported problems with faculty office hours conflicting with their schedules, thus further hindering their ability to succeed.
In a separate article that drilled more deeply into some of these items, it was revealed that 45 percent of students “say that deadlines should be flexible in general—not just in emergencies.”
When asked what professors could do to “help them be more successful,” a majority of young scholars responded that flexible deadlines would be helpful while a large minority said flexible attendance and participation policies would be good too.
Other items on students’ wish lists included professors trying out new teaching styles, providing clearer expectations, and discussing wellness resources in class.
Some students thought it would be nice if their professors took “more of an interest in getting to know them” and were more accessible outside of class.
I feel like Gen-Zers routinely win gold in the Olympic category of “How to Do Nothing, But Still Get Credit…”
Seriously… this is becoming laughable.
Hard tests, showing up for class, and having deadlines for your assignments is… the literal bare minimum of what the college experience entails. For real… if you think that’s an “impediment” to your success, then GTFO. It used to be that if you couldn’t hang, then college just wasn’t the thing for you. This environment that we’ve created where class structures, grading methods, and assignment criteria have to change for students who don’t “like” it is damaging for… well… everyone.
I hate that we’re having to reinvent anything that takes effort. Rules need to be changed, expectations lowered, and prizes given away to those who are undeserving if we are to be a society that is considered “welcoming.”
I call bullsh*t. All this is doing is punishing those who do value hard work, honesty, and integrity. It eclipses real progress and change, while also discouraging people from putting their best foot forward. If we’re screwed from the beginning, why should we begin at all? (*see the multitude of historical instances concerning the implementation of socialism, the redistribution of wealth, and generalized equity for reference…)
If there’s nothing to push you to your limits, then you won’t know what they are. If future generations are to have the slightest chance at a better tomorrow, then we have to quit fostering the bullsh*t, stop coddling the college kids, and start expecting more out of people. It’s not harsh, it’s not mean, it’s just the way things have to be if we are to be a truly “welcoming” society. You have to welcome the people who are going to work in the upkeep of said society if it’s going to be a lasting one.

When I was a student, I often found myself overwhelmed with assignments and tight deadlines. One day, while browsing online, I stumbled upon a service essay online cheap writing. Curious, I decided to try it out. The convenience and quality surprised me. I used it several times to help with essays, and it saved me so much stress. While it wasn’t ideal to rely on it, it helped me stay on top of my work during some tough semesters.
Many college students today are there to party and avoid going to work. They sponge off their parents as long as they can. Also, many in college are not college material. Some of the dumbest people I have known had PhD’s.
If all these kids want are colleges that will reward them for doing nothing, they can take their asses to an Ivy League school. Princeton is probably the safest bet because, in the words of Thomas Sowell “Any moron can get a degree from Princeton.” They already have great role models. The textbook role models of getting rewarded for doing nothing have to be Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
If those crybabies are unwilling or unable to handle the rigors of college and apply themselves, what on earth are they attending college for? Speaking of higher learning, as of this past Friday, I’m the Mom of a nurse! My daughter graduated from nursing school and was able to do so because of the hard work and dedication to studying that she learned as a homeschooler. I’m of the thought that community colleges, trade schools, (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, auto mechanics) and specialty schools, (such as NURSING!) are often better than over-rated, expensive colleges and universities. Plus, they provide valuable skills. It’s one thing to attend them for advanced fields such medicine, it’s another for earning virtually useless degrees in equally useless majors, i.e. women’s studies in hip-hop, underwater basket weaving. At least baskets are useful!
Congrats to your daughter! My oldest girl is a nurse too, so I know how much work that takes!
Thanks! Do you remember, (back when it used to be funny) the Saturday Night Live episode featuring Lily Tomlin singing while she was backed by the All Nurses Band? It was the house band wearing nurse uniforms, some even wearing nurse dresses; it was cute. May God bless your daughter in all she does.
Congratulations to you both!!!

I always thought that was why they invented marriage.
As for the rest, hahaha, whatever! They need to quit complaining. When I was in high school, I could not believe how many of the teachers were always interrupting while I was trying to talk. Their rudeness, plus I was under the general impression school should not be held on sunny days, caused me to explore much more educational experiences hunting, ice fishing, riding snow mobiles, drinking, etc. In college no one cared if I showed up or not. I am thinking most preferred I did not.
(It really sucked during the fall as to play football we were generally required to attend class and behave. Then there were the constant requests to attend detention, I did go to once. I was there for about 10 minutes when I realized this was not for me, and I left and refused to go back. My mom had 5 boys and one girl she raised – my dad was overseas a lot. If I remember right, I was the best behaved.)
“Welcome folks to Gen Z Airlines. Your pilot graduated from Flight School with all A’s even though he’s a solid C student. Attending class interfered with his school/life balance and time at Starbucks. He has mental health issues. He wasn’t really sure what the expectations of the classes were. He graduated by virtue of Inclusivity and Diversity and Equity. Hey wait! Why are all of you getting off the plane? That’s a micro-aggression and you’re making the pilot feel bad”.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!
