February 28, 2026When it comes to suggesting the United States take over various countries, President Trump really can’t help himself. First the POTUS set his sights on Greenland, and now he is considering the idea of a “friendly takeover” of Cuba.
This comes on the heels of a Cuban attack on an American speedboat which killed four. The Cubans claim the Americans fired at their troops, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio isn’t taking their word for it, and says the U.S. has “every reason to want our own information.” When it comes to communist nations, I tend to agree that we need to take their stories with a very large grain of salt.

Do I think Trump is serious? I’d say I am about 97% sure he isn’t and he just wants the Cubans to poop their pants.
Trump has a history of saying shocking things to get a reaction out of liberals and/or our enemies. I think this is probably one of those “The Art of the Deal” situations where he wants some other concession, and to start the process he says something extreme.
…However, this is still Trump we’re talking about. And with that in mind, I estimate there is roughly a 3% chance we’re about to get a new state with pretty beaches and cool cigars. Only time will tell.
