Today, the House once again voted on a measure put forth by Representative Anna Paulina Luna to censure Adam Schiff over his involvement in the highly unethical and dishonest Trump-Russia investigation, and subsequent intentional dishonesty on the subject. Last week, the censure was blocked as almost 2 dozen Republicans voted with Democrats against it. But Luna put forth the measure again this week, this time without the potential $16M fine should the Ethics Committee determine he lied, which he did.
Those dissenting Republicans apparently “opposed fining a member of Congress in that manner.” Which really only seems self-serving, if you ask me. Why wouldn’t you want to recoup a tiny bit of the tens of millions of taxpayer dollars that were wasted thanks to the lies perpetrated by Adam Schiff? Was it perhaps that they didn’t want to set a precedent of fining an egregiously unethical liar for their egregious and unethical lies because it might come back to bite them at some point? And Schiff, like so many other corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle, certainly has the money to pay the fines.
He had a few hilarious words to say to the House today, during which he ridiculously labeled himself a “truth teller.” Ultimately, the Republican majority voted to censure Schiff in a party line vote. And finally, we see the tiniest bit of accountability and consequences after years of lies. Now, can we do this for several hundred other government officials and politicians on both sides of the aisle? Maybe then America can start trusting our government again.
