I swear, our world is getting so freaking dumb. Everyone just wants something to be outraged over all the time, to the point that they’re SEEKING IT OUT, y’all.
Case in point. Rihanna is the talk of the town right now, particularly after her Superbowl Halftime performance. She’s now on the cover of Vogue magazine, along with her child and her child’s father. She and the father are not married, but they are seemingly happily together, raising their child and about to bring a second child into the world. And they are all featured on the cover:
A new era begins – and for @Rihanna nothing will ever be the same. Fresh from the Super Bowl and that very special announcement, Rihanna is British Vogue’s phenomenal March 2023 cover star – but this is no ordinary cover. This is a family portrait: https://t.co/dYosr4a6Ah pic.twitter.com/xx4h7LisKU

I saw that cover photo and thought it was awesome. She looks like a total vixen, and I love that her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, is cradling their son and sweetly kissing him as they all walk along a beach. It’s a great photo.
But unfortunately, there are some naysayers. BEHOLD:
The emasculation of men continues…you can already tell who the man is in this relationship…that dude about to be a proud mother of 2😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/S74OBoJSqE

Both magazine possess cover articles that are about the women, but look at how they depict the men.
But I’m overreacting apparently. 😑 pic.twitter.com/Yh13Ss2u4t
This picture of Rihanna portrays something deeper than u see. Only the smart ones will understand it. But here we go again:

Rihanna is the "Man"
Asap Rockey is the "Woman" following the "Man"

I mean, you get the idea. People can’t just see that the cover of the magazine AND the story IN the magazine are about Rihanna – she is the main focus. She is the star of the story. But as you can see above, people are mad. They’ve convinced themselves that this is a slap in the face to A$AP Rocky, that he appears to be emasculated.
Considering the fact that 70% of black mothers are single, you’d think everyone would be celebrating this intact family unit – that they’d be celebrating the very real and clear presence of the black father there to help raise his child. But nope! They’re mad that Rihanna is front and center, and that her mate is taking a bit of a back seat in a story and cover that is ALL ABOUT HER.
I can’t. There just aren’t enough eyerolls.

Have to admit–my first thought was along the lines of emasculating…but hey, we each can have our own opinion. It reminded me a little of Harry and Meghan pictures
Although I do love seeing the man holding and kissing the baby…
A$AP Rocky seems secure enough to think if the woman in his life is getting attention because of her talent/accomplishments it does not make him less of a man, and wanting to show the world he loves his kid, seems alpha to me.
Men, and I know I am one because I checked, do not get jealous and insecure because someone around them gets noticed for their accomplishments. Women are not inferior, just different in quite an attractive way. (I wonder what my wife is doing right now?) I got to go.
Well said!
So people are outraged that a magazine marketed toward women puts women as the central figure?
Yup we’ve clearly gone off the cliff and standing there like Wile E. Coyote just waiting for gravity to take effect.
So, being a dad is somehow emasculating? The same people who get pi$$ed when dads on TV get depicted as unnecessary and stupid while the smart mom fixes everything are now pi$$ed when they see dads being dads. A real man would never hold his child when there’s a woman there to do it! 🤦♀️
