You know what Mayor Pete reminds me of? Little kids playing dress up to look like adults. Like this kid.

Petey just so desperately wants to appear competent and effective, and he uses a lot of words to say very little. More than anything, he wants you to know that HE IS VERY POWERFUL AND IMPORTANT in his role as Transportation Secretary. That’s why, after the disastrous events of yesterday when every single US flight was temporarily grounded due to an FAA system meltdown, his highest priority was to make sure we all know who’s boss. Check this out.
At my direction, FAA is continuing its system review. Preliminary work has traced the issue to a damaged database file, with no evidence of a cyber attack.

FAA will continue its work to further pinpoint the sources of this issue and steps to prevent it from occurring again.
“At my direction,” he said.
There are not enough eyerolls.
It’s not like the FAA was gonna sit around flailing and waiting for MAYOR FREAKING PETE to tell them to actually REVIEW what happened. It’s not like they were all, “Should we investigate this problem or wait to be TOLD to investigate it?”
But again, Pete REALLY needs everyone to know that he’s LARGE AND IN CHARGE. Yesterday he tweeted this:
FAA has determined that the safety system affected by the overnight outage is fully restored, and the nationwide ground stop will be lifted effective immediately. I have directed an after-action process to determine root causes and recommend next steps.

What is really embarrassing is he now calls Michigan home. The citizens of Indiana created him, and he is all yours.
The only thing I want to hear out of his mouth is him sing this song as he skips back across the border.
I’m going back to Indiana
Indiana here I come
I’m going back to Indiana
‘Cause thats where my baby’s from

Speaking for all Hoosiers, we share your misery, but we don’t want him back.
All signal, no virtue. Take credit for everyone else’s work and not letting a crisis go to waste.
