You’ve probably heard that Katie Hobbs has been declared the winner of the AZ governor race, beating Kari Lake by 8/10ths of a percentage point. This after multiple inexcusable election day shenanigans and mishaps, all under the purview of Katie Hobbs herself as Sec’y of State.
It doesn’t make me an “election denier” to point out simple facts. The facts are as I’ve stated them above – and they are inarguable. Add to that the fact that AZ election officer Stephen Richer and Supervisor Chairman Bill Gates allegedly started a PAC in 2021 to stop MAGA candidates – and you basically have a big old recipe for election f*ckery.
So the question now is – what should Kari Lake do? If she refuses to concede, or if she demands a recount or sues to try to have the election decertified, she risks becoming the next Stacey Abrams. Trump is already saying openly that the election was “taken away” from Kari. This could potentially turn off people who are sick and tired of the entire fraudulent election narrative, BUT if nothing is done, then the risk is alienating and infuriating everyone who believes that our very democracy is at risk if we don’t fight back against these shenanigans.
She’s in an impossible-to-win scenario right now, like it or not.
Many folks on Twitter are saying she should refuse to concede. I totally get it. The election was a complete sham in AZ. Elections that allow for ballot harvesting and mass mail-OUT ballots simply cannot be trusted. They are RIPE for fraud.
There are varying opinions about what should happen next:
Kari Lake does not need to make the same mistake as Stacey Abrams did.

Go straight for Vice President.
Trump/Lake or DeSantis/Lake would have national appeal beyond belief.
Just like you can reject Covid mRNA shots and not be an 'anti-vaxxer,' you can recognize an election is run in a corrupt manner and not be an 'election denier.'

Democrats throw around lazy personal attacks that are meant to avoid debating the issues or solving the problems.
“Elections are safe and secure” is the new “vaccines are safe and effective”.

Question it — and you’re a conspiracy theorist.
Kari’s team seems to be intent on fighting the good fight.
We have spent the last week collecting the stories of Arizona voters who were disenfranchised.
— Kari Lake War Room (@KariLakeWarRoom) November 15, 2022
We will continue to collect & tell their stories.
Their voices matter.
Their votes matter.
Maricopa County took that from them.
There are anecdotal accounts all over Twitter of people whose votes haven’t yet been counted. And it’s infuriating to see a state mismanage an election so outrageously.
What do you think she should do? How long and how far do you think she should push? And will it be effective? Discuss.

From what I read, an automatic recount is triggered if the winner wins by less than half of a percentage point… And technically, only 98% of the ballots are in, so an automatic recount should still be possible. That aside, she should sue the hell out of the state. Way too many shenanigans.
What’s with Katie Hobbs and Jocelyn Benson, (Michigan’s secretary of state) “winning” elections without debating their opponents? The same applies to Hobbs and Joe Biden “winning” elections while in hiding, whereas Kari Lake and President Trump was out on the campaign trail, often drawing massive crowds.
Saw this yesterday and it seems one person can get this started. I wonder if there are any former Chicks writers and their attorney husband, who live in Arizonia that would be interested in getting the ball rolling? /sarc. /sarc. /sarc. (Please don’t beat me, it was a total joke.)

Sue the state but do so on the premise of getting them to clean up their election process. Waiting a week for results is simply unacceptable even with mail in ballots and having machines that weren’t working at the time of the election is even more egregious. That just seems like something that even people who are sick of the election denial at least can’t argue against.
