I gotta get this gun control crap off my chest before I explode.
So ever since Crazy McZombieman went on his Aurora movie theater shooting spree, people on the left are FLIPPING THE FREAK OUT and calling for more gun control. “Guns kill people!” they shriek hysterically. “How many more people need to die before the government finally toughens up on gun control?!” they holler.
Why is it so hard for these people to understand that wherever you have strict gun laws, the only people you are restricting are LAW ABIDING CITIZENS? Do these people genuinely believe that if the government bans guns, or even just certain TYPES of guns, or just makes it more restrictive to purchase guns, that criminals will somehow magically no longer be able to get and use them? Heroine and cocaine are illegal. Criminals still buy and use drugs. If guns are restricted, GUESS WHAT! Criminals will still get guns. See: Mexico. Or better yet, see: HUMANITY.
It’s mindboggling to me how misdirected people’s hysteria is after a tragedy like the Aurora shooting. Instead of focusing their ire on the Actual Criminal, they demand more restrictions on law abiding Americans. Whizzuh whuzzah? Ginger McJokerboy was hell-bent on killing people, you guys. If you think for a SECOND that he wouldn’t have killed people regardless of whether or not he had legal access to guns, you are FREAKING HIGH. He would have either gotten a gun illegally, which is what criminals do, or tossed one of his homemade bombs into the theater, or he would have thrown knives at people, or he’d have devised some sort of alternate plan to carry out his desire to kill people. NO LAW IN THE WORLD would have stopped him, you see, because he IS A CRAZY CRIMINAL.
There was a sticker on the movie theater which informed its patrons that if they had gun permits, they needed to leave their weapons in the car. Guess what law abiding (or at least in this case, establishment rule-abiding) citizens did? They left their weapons in their cars. Guess what Shooter McBatman did?
Yeah. We all saw how that turned out.
I mourn the loss of life in Aurora and pray for the victims and their families. But there is simply no law in the world that would have stopped that criminal from hurting people. The guy is batsh*t crazy, as are most people who want to kill other people. They’re the kind of people who are going to commit criminal acts regardless of what sort of restrictions or regulations or red tape the government tries to create.
I’ve heard people argue, “But but but, even if law abiding citizens had their guns in the theater, it was dark and there is no way they could have shot him down without possibly hurting others! And he had a semi-automatic weapon which was way bigger and faster than the kinds of guns regular law abiding citizens carry around!” So again, what we’re establishing here is that we were dealing with a CRIMINAL. Can someone please help me understand how more restrictive gun laws would have prevented these murders again? Because I do NOT GET IT.
Where is the hysteria about razor blades, after they were used to kill flight attendants and pilots on 9/11? WHERE IS THE RAZOR BLADE BAN? “Oh that’s ridiculous, Mock – everyone knows that regular people aren’t going to use razor blades to kill other people.”
EXACTLY. Which is why we have no laws making it harder for regular people to buy razor blades. And before you say, “But razor blades are not SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to kill people like guns are!” let me just remind you that guns do not kill people. They, like razor blades, are inanimate objects. PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE.
There is a reason that gun sales, and gun safety classes, and gun permits are at an all-time high. People with Actual Brains sense, perhaps even on some subconscious level, that now is the time that they need to be armed and prepared for whatever this crazy administration is going to do next. Because Obama might be keeping quiet on the gun issue now, knowing that it’s something that could potentially make him very unpopular even with some members of his own party…but if he’s re-elected? Get ready for a FLURRY of executive orders which trample the rights of law abiding citizens. A second term for Obama is giving him carte blanche to do whatever he wants, however he wants, without the need to campaign, without the need to appeal to independents, without the need to fear any repercussions whatsoever.
And THAT, clever and competent readers, should scare you more than any red-haired neuroscience freakshow.
